A cleaner, more current kitchen made sense for this Mediterranean-style home, but it still needed to feel connected to the architecture around it. We kept the perimeter cabinetry white to brighten the room, then introduced a contrasting wood island that picks up tones used elsewhere in the house. Natural Taj Mahal quartzite adds warmth without pulling the kitchen away from the lighter direction we were creating.

The made-to-order range hood became one of the strongest architectural features, with mixed-metal detailing that gives the cooking wall more presence. Moroccan-inspired pendants bring some of the home’s Mediterranean character back into the room, while glass-front cabinetry gives the larger appliance wall a little visual relief. Together, those choices make the kitchen feel updated without losing its connection to the rest of the home.
