Lantern Hill

An awkwardly shaped space near the front of this Dana Point home gave us the chance to create something more useful than another television room. We turned it into a dedicated lounge for conversation, working around the existing fireplace and building the palette around the clients' preference for blue and white. Silver and gray helped bridge those stronger blues with the finishes already in the house, while the mix of traditional upholstery details and cleaner lines kept the room firmly transitional.

Texture mattered just as much as color here. A white shag rug, hide-covered ottomans, and faux-fur pillows softened the room, while metal, glass, and geometric forms kept it from feeling too plush. We repeated shape through the octagonal coffee table, cutout side tables, and patterned pillows, then brought in button tufting and nailhead trim for a final layer of detail.
