Blue and orange gave us the starting point for a midcentury modern interior that also needed to work hard for entertaining. Because the clients have a particular interest in whiskey, the dining room in their Huntington Beach home was designed around a large custom bar. A chevron wood pattern gives the bar more texture, while floating shelves along the back wall put their collection on display.

Fitting an eight-person dining table, curio cabinets, the bar, and the necessary electrical into the same room took careful space planning. In the living area, a large sectional creates plenty of room for watching television, and a console with two ottomans behind it gives the exposed back of the sofa a more finished transition from the entry.
