Project LocationNewport Coast, CA
Project DescriptionThis expansive Newport Coast home has a wide open floor plan, and our interior design team was called in to make use of the space without letting it seem bare, and with great success. The second story wraps around the staircase and the walls are lined with molding-bordered wallpaper sections which add dimension and appeal to this area; there’s also a modern, geometric theme to the décor, with wall art and a contemporary chandelier that are almost reminiscent of cubism. The ceiling is a mauve taupe which matches two of the bordered sections in this space; also using an accent ceiling is the dining room, which uses a deep color on the ceiling and lighter walls to add depth.
A beaded chain chandelier hangs above a square table with a glass inset in the center, and a neutral runner on a dark wood buffet table adds contrast. Against the staircase is an elegant, custom built entry bench, with a back that runs upward and along the staircase. The master bedroom in this home is so spacious it practically takes on two separate functions: a bedroom and an informal sitting room. In the bedroom, a gray upholstered wingback headboard lays against a patterned statement wall. Blue floor to ceiling curtains border two sets of French doors, and draw the eye up toward a gray ceiling, adding depth and serenity to this space.
