NEWPORT BEACH

Project Location

Newport Beach, CA

Project Description

When the owners of this Newport Beach home reached out to our Interior Design team reached out to us, it was clear that they wanted heavy use of contrast in both color and pattern throughout their home. Our tour begins in the living room, where a neutral stone full-wall fireplace surround stands out against dark woods in the floor below, and the adjacent built-in open shelving; darkly patterned floor length curtains and an abstract painting add to the visual complexity. This room also features a caged crystal chandelier above a mirrored table, surrounded with cream colored chairs, and a darker sofa; the dark shelving is adorned with silver and chrome toned accessories. The formal dining room has textured, coffee wallpaper and parchment colored drapes; this chandelier is the twin of the one seen in the living room, but this one hangs above a blonde wood dining table surrounded by black upholstered chairs on either side, and eggshell head chairs on either end.

Walking into the kitchen one is immediately struck by the ingenious contrast between black and white; this kitchen moves seamlessly between black and white countertops and cabinets – even with a black backsplash and white ovens to match the theme. Black and white hound’s-tooth pattern on the backless barstools ties this room together. This home has a breakfast nook with a somewhat different style; a chain draped crystal chandelier sits above a medium toned round wood table, surrounded by high-backed chairs in crisp white covers. The walls in this area are also white, broken by the black & white patterned window coverings. In the guest bedroom a bubble chandelier rests above a paisley inspired bedspread, leading to a taupe upholstered headboard. This room doubles as a home office, and has no shortage of artwork.

The client’s daughter has a room that, while colorful, maintains the same contemporary feel as the rest of the home with an aqua wallpaper with a pink & purple avian pattern, and a rouge area rug below a white four-post bed. The final part of this modern masterpiece is the stone surrounded Jacuzzi-tub between two sinks, and below a glass chandelier. A dark wood built in cabinet with glass windows in the doors, and even including a drink fridge, makes this an ideal place to primp for a night out, or unwind after a long day.
